![["Joe Tyson, a landowner in Duncan, Oklahoma, received an offer of $6,300 from the Oklahoma Department of Highways for a 13.38-acre property for the purpose of rerouting Highway 81 South. Tyson felt the offer was inadequate and raised concerns about the value of the property, relocating water meters, gates, and fences, and mineral rights. The United States Department of the Interior assured Tyson that his rights would be protected and explained the process for negotiating compensation. The Highway Department filed for condemnation to acquire the property, and Tyson was advised to secure legal counsel if he was not satisfied with the compensation offered.
