![["Mrs. Clamy Holden Brown, a Chickasaw Indian from Milburn, Oklahoma, requested information about oil drilling activities on her land. The Bureau of Indian Affairs determined that there was no need for drilling on her land as there had been no development on adjoining lands that would warrant it. The report explained in detail the reasons for this decision. Mrs. Brown was informed that until deeper productive wells were discovered in the area, further development could not be required. They were informed that a decision on funding will be made by June 1, and not all applicants will be funded due to lack of funds. The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Office of Education have been in communication regarding the proposal and are keeping the Foundation updated on the status of their application.
