They feel that the allocation is not realistic and unfair. They have also faced challenges with qualifying families for their housing program. The Authority believes they have been penalized for their management performance and feel that the HUD Area Office does not differentiate between Indian Housing Authorities. The Housing Authority believes HUD should take financial responsibility for repairs, while local HUD officials claim it is due to inadequate maintenance. Efforts to resolve the issue with HUD have been met with delays, causing frustration for the Housing Authority and tenants living in deteriorating conditions.
