The report describes the growing interest in and use of computer matching as a way to detect and prevent mistakes or fraud in government programs. The project has already resulted in significant savings, and efforts are being made to share expertise and techniques across state and agency lines. The goal is to use computer matching as an effective management tool to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.
