- Description:
- The Office of Management and Budget released a comprehensive inventory of computer matching practices by Federal and State governments in the labor and social service fields. The report describes the growing interest in and use of computer matching as a way to detect and prevent mistakes or fraud in government programs. The project has already resulted in significant savings, and efforts are being made to share expertise and techniques across state and agency lines. The goal is to use computer matching as an effective management tool to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse. Conferences are being held to enhance communication and share best practices in fighting fraud.
