She received a positive response from Member of Congress Page Belcher, who informed her that the Agent had been restored. Belcher also provided information regarding the Indian Home Economics program and explained the reduction in the Extension program due to funding limitations. The rally was held in protest of a supervised fight between Indian and white students at the Elgin school. LaDonna Harris emphasized the importance of quality education for Indian children and expressed pride in her heritage. She was presented with a blanket by the Indian Association and participated in an Indian dance before leaving for Oklahoma City and Washington, D.C.
