<dcterms:description>H.V. Chadwick, a DIH Executive Officer, spoke at a meeting in Oklahoma in 1967, expressing gratitude for the cooperation of the Creek Tribe in improving the health program for Native Americans. He highlighted recent changes and improvements in the Oklahoma Area Indian Health operation, including new leadership appointments, policy changes, and training programs for dental assistants. Chadwick also cited statistics showing significant improvements in health outcomes for Native Americans over the past decade, largely attributed to legislation providing water and waste disposal facilities. <dcterms:description>Representative Carl Albert spoke in support of a $64,000 item in the Interior Appropriation Bill for the Public Health Service Indian Hospital at Talihina, Oklahoma. The funds would be used for consolidating shop space and constructing a new incinerator. The hospital serves members of the Five Civilized Tribes of Indians in Southeastern Oklahoma and is in need of modernization and expansion to meet program needs. The $64,000 would enable some necessary improvements to be made, including the construction of the incinerator and consolidation of shop space. Representative Albert emphasized the importance of this funding for the hospital to continue functioning effectively.</dcterms:description>

It establishes Community Development Corporations (CDCs) owned by residents, which manage businesses and social service programs. The Act also creates Community Development Banks (CDBs) for financing, tax incentives for outside companies to invest in communities, and grants for management training. The Act is supported by bipartisan Congress members and has been implemented in various communities across the country.</dcterms:description>

<dcterms:description>Representative Carl Albert spoke in support of a $64,000 item in the Interior Appropriation Bill for the Public Health Service Indian Hospital at Talihina, Oklahoma. The funds will be used for consolidating shop space and constructing a new incinerator. The hospital serves as a primary health resource for members of the Five Civilized Tribes of Indians in Southeastern Oklahoma and is in need of modernization and expansion to meet current program needs. The $64,000 is necessary for making some of the most needed improvements at the hospital, including the construction of the new incinerator and consolidation of shop space. Representative Albert hopes the funds will not be eliminated from the appropriation bill.</dcterms:description>

<dcterms:description>The proposal to modernize the Public Health Service Indian Hospital in Talihina, Oklahoma includes major functional rearrangements, expansion of departments, and the addition of 100 GM&S beds. The project will be completed in three phases to avoid increased costs and construction issues. The estimated cost has increased to $1,502,000, and it is recommended to award one construction contract for all phases. The hospital serves as a primary health resource for the Choctaw and other tribes in the area, and the proposed modernization aims to improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare services provided.</dcterms:description>
