- Description:
- The Osage Tribal Council resolution opposes H.R. 5592, which would establish the Tallgrass Carl Albert Prairie National Reserve in Kansas and Oklahoma. The resolution states that the proposed park would negatively impact the Osage Tribe's leasing program for oil and gas exploration, as well as the livelihood of those dependent on mineral income. It also argues that the cattlemen in the Osage County area are best suited for the preservation of the Tallgrass Carl Albert prairie, and raises concerns about the Corps of Engineers' projects subordinating a significant portion of the Osage Mineral Estate. The resolution requests that the Secretary of the Interior and members of Congress Carl Albert oppose the establishment of the reserve.
