- Rear Admiral T.W. Josiah expresses gratitude for meetings with the American Ambassador to Mexico and Admiral Nunez of the Mexican Navy regarding drug interdiction efforts along the Gulf Coast border. Direct communication has been established with the Mexican Navy to combat narcotics smuggling by lancha in the Gulf of Mexico. Plans are in place for Coast Guard staff to travel to Mexico City to finalize details, and a reception for senior Mexican officials will be hosted on a Coast Guard cutter in Tuxpan, Mexico in May.
