Direct communication has been established with the Mexican Navy to combat narcotics smuggling by lancha in the Gulf of Mexico. Plans are in place for Coast Guard staff to travel to Mexico City to finalize details, and a reception for senior Mexican officials will be hosted on a Coast Guard cutter in Tuxpan, Mexico in May.
