- Description:
- Senator Elmer Thomas received a letter from Chili Fish, the Assistant Chief of the Seminole Tribe, inquiring about a per capita payment to the tribe. The Office of Indian Affairs responded, stating that the money cannot be paid out per capita without authorization from Congress and should be used for the general benefit of the tribe. Chili Fish requested assistance from Senator Thomas in securing the payment, as the tribe is in dire circumstances.
