- The text is a series of letters regarding the settlement of claims of the Cherokee and Choctaw Indians and the possibility of a per capita payment. The Court of Claims rendered decisions unfavorable to the Cherokee Indians, and no payment is anticipated. For the Choctaw Indians, a per capita payment of $5.00 is considered, but it is believed that conserving the funds for the general benefit of the tribe is more important at this time. The letters acknowledge communication from Senator Elmer Thomas and inform John L. Richerson of the status of the claims.
