The Miami Chamber of Commerce strongly favors the Flood Indemnification and Insurance Bill introduced by Representative Bolling of Missouri. However, Congressman George B. Schwabe opposed the bill as he believed it would give the President too much power and preferred to trust the existing government agencies for flood relief. The bill was ultimately defeated in the House. The Chamber of Commerce requested Schwabe's support for the bill, but he explained his reasons for opposing it in a letter.
