- Description:
- The USDA has endorsed a proposal by Representative George Schwabe to divide government land in Oklahoma and give it to war veterans. The land would be divided into small farms and veterans would pay a filing fee to receive a tract. Prefabricated houses from a surplus project would be moved to the farms. President Truman believes that with modern science and technology, it is possible to improve economic relations worldwide and ensure that all people have enough food, housing, and clothing. He emphasizes the importance of fair exchange and distribution systems and suggests that relaxing government controls and eliminating monopolies could help achieve this goal.
