- Description:
- The Department of Agriculture submitted a redraft of Section 2 of H.R. 520 to the Committee on Irrigation and Reclamation in 1945. The redraft authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to exercise functions and powers related to water conservation and utilization projects on Federal reclamation projects. The redraft also includes provisions for the acquisition, sale, and leasing of lands within projects, as well as cooperative agreements with the Secretary of the Interior. Contracts, exchanges, and leases must adhere to sound project development and business principles.
