- Description:
- Mrs. Fanning wrote to Congressman Schwabe in support of a bill to release fathers from the service. Congressman Schwabe had personally discussed the issue with the President, introduced a bill in Congress, and made speeches in favor of the legislation. However, he expressed frustration that the bill was not making progress in the House due to opposition from the military authorities and the New Deal crowd. Despite his efforts, he did not have hope that the bill would pass at that time. Mrs. Fanning urged Congressman Schwabe to continue supporting the bill, emphasizing the importance of fathers being at home to help raise their children.
