- Description:
- The document from George B. Schwabe to Mrs. John T. Wood explains that he introduced a bill in Congress to automatically release fathers in the service, including her husband. He mentions that despite his efforts, the New Deal crowd in Congress has not passed such a law. He offers to assist Mrs. Wood in proving extreme hardship and dependency to potentially help her husband be released from service. Mrs. Wood had previously written to support a bill for the discharge of fathers in the service, as she believes there are enough trained men willing to do the patrolling work. She questions why her husband is still in occupation in Austria and believes he should be sent to Europe to guard instead.
