- Description:
- Mr. D.R. Rees wrote to Honorable George B. Schwabe on September 26, 1945, suggesting an enlargement of the "G.I. Bill of Rights" to provide benefits for men over 25 years of age who want to pursue graduate or refresher courses. While Schwabe appreciates the suggestion, he believes there is not a significant demand for this and that Congress is currently focused on other issues. Rees argues that there is a need for better trained technical men, especially older university graduates who want to pursue further education. He requests Schwabe to consider expanding the benefits of the G.I. Bill to accommodate this group. Schwabe expresses willingness to consider the suggestion but believes it may not pass Congress in the near future.
