- Mr. Schwabe received a telegram from Mr. Gates requesting him to use his influence to exclude arms and ammunition from the Reciprocal Trade Agreements Extension Bill. Mr. Schwabe is familiar with the bill and will vote for any amendments proposed by the Republican opposition. He is opposed to the extension of the bill and giving the President the authority to fix tariffs. Mr. Gates also sent a telegram expressing the importance of excluding arms and ammunition from the bill for national defense reasons.
