- Description:
- Mrs. Salome C. Litmer writes to Honorable George B. Schwabe urging him to vote against various controversial issues including the O.P.A., Federal Education, socialized medicine, price controls, labor racketeers, federal expenditures, and the appointment of another New Dealer to the Supreme Court bench. Schwabe responds, stating his opposition to these issues and expressing his commitment to vote against them. He also mentions his recent appointment to the Appropriations Committee, which will allow him to assert his ideas on reducing federal expenditures. He clarifies that as a member of the House, he does not have a say in the appointment of Supreme Court justices, as that is the role of the Senate. Schwabe assures Litmer that he will work towards opposing these issues to the best of his ability in his position as a member of the House of Representatives.
