- Description:
- Congressman George B. Schwabe received a letter from Mr. R. L. Crutcher urging him to support a proposed loan to Great Britain. Crutcher argued that making the loan was important to prevent economic collapse in Britain and maintain a strong united front against potential conflicts with Russia. However, Schwabe explained that his constituents in Northeastern Oklahoma were overwhelmingly against the loan, based on the results of a questionnaire sent to forty thousand people. As a result, Schwabe was hesitant to vote in favor of the loan due to the strong opposition from his constituents.
