- Description:
- The document consists of two letters, one from Mr. and Mrs. Carter advocating for a peace-time conscription act and conscription of materials needed for the war effort, and one from George B. Schwabe, a member of the House of Representatives, responding to their letter. Schwabe explains that he is receiving many letters on the subject and will vote in what he believes is the best interest of the country. The second letter is from an unknown writer expressing support for a National Service act and stating that the President and military leaders have requested such a law. The writer believes that drafting individuals for war production is no different than drafting them for military service.
