- Description:
- Levi B. Gritts wrote to Congressman George B. Schwabe and Senator E.H. Moore in July 1945, asking for assistance with H.R. Bill No. 341, known as the Keetoowah Bill, which would provide more authority to the Keetoowah Society. Congressman Schwabe's office acknowledged Gritts' letter and said it would be brought to the Congressman's attention. Senator Moore's office replied, stating that the Senator is busy but will consider the bill, ensuring it does not conflict with the Wheeler-Howard Act. Gritts later wrote to Schwabe again in October 1945, expressing concern about the bill's delay and mentioning his previous communication with Senator Moore. Schwabe responded, stating that he had not been present during any discussions between Gritts and Senator Moore regarding the bill. He also mentioned that Congressman Stigler, the bill's author, had returned to Washington and would address the matter.
