- Description:
- The National Housing Agency and Federal Public Housing Authority are responsible for disposing of war housing projects developed under various acts. They are required to inform Congress when war housing becomes surplus, and have outlined procedures for disposal. The Federal Public Housing Authority has around 656,000 war housing units to dispose of, including temporary and permanent units. The Lanham Act governs the disposal of war housing, with the goal of removing temporary housing promptly and selling permanent housing to private purchasers.
