- Description:
- Colonel J. Monroe Johnson of the Office of Defense Transportation warned fair managers not to make elaborate advance preparations for upcoming events due to heavy demands on transportation services. He emphasized the need to reduce travel load and conserve resources for military and essential civilian transportation. Passenger car travel must be kept to a minimum, as shortages of manpower and equipment will continue after the end of the war. Johnson advised that cars should be considered part of the nation's transportation system and used for essential purposes.
