- Description:
- George B. Schwabe, a member of the House of Representatives, is corresponding with Sam F. Wilkinson regarding the price of canned oysters in Oklahoma. Schwabe received a response from Paul Porter, Administrator of the Office of Price Administration, explaining that canned oysters were exempt from price control in 1945. Schwabe is critical of the response and feels that the bureaucracy is not being transparent. He asks Wilkinson to study the situation and form his own opinion. Wilkinson, in turn, expresses frustration with the regulations of the Office of Price Administration and believes that oyster distributors are unfairly charging more for their products. Both Schwabe and Wilkinson are seeking answers and transparency from the government agency.
