- Description:
- The Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes in Oklahoma sent a resolution to Senator Mike Monroney urging the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Secretary of the Interior, the President, and Congress to rebuild a dormitory for Indian girls at Eufaula, Oklahoma, which was destroyed by fire. The resolution highlighted the importance of providing education for Indian girls from low-income and broken homes. Senator Monroney responded by stating that the damaged building had to be demolished for safety reasons and that alternative office space was being provided at the school.
