- Description:
- The text is a series of correspondence regarding the settlement of the estate of Matilda Stand Beaver, a deceased Peoria Indian, and the refunds of federal income taxes included in the estate. The Department of the Interior has exclusive jurisdiction over the probate of the restricted estate and tax refunds, and field offices have been instructed to proceed with the probate. There have been difficulties with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in regard to the disposition of funds, but efforts are being made to acquire a decision. The text outlines the history of the estate, including the wills of Alex Beaver and Matilda Stand Beaver, and the removal of restrictions on Matilda Stand Beaver's estate by the government.
