- Description:
- Governor Henry Bellmon defended the administration of the federal anti-poverty program in Oklahoma, stating that it is not being administered on a partisan basis. He approved grants for youth corps programs in Guthrie, Midwest City-Del City, and Lawton-Fort Sill, but criticized the latter for only offering menial tasks to Indian youngsters. Bellmon recommended assigning them to jobs with higher responsibility and intellectual stimulus.
