- Description:
- Senator Fred R. Harris received a reply from the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding the construction of new facilities at Riverside Indian School. The Bureau informed him that money was appropriated in Fiscal Year 1971 for planning new facilities at Riverside. They expressed hope for the project to be accelerated if more construction funds become available. Miss Julia Mahseet, a Comanche representative on the Riverside Advisory School Board, had previously appealed to Senator Harris for support in improving facilities at the school, citing critical needs for adequate dormitory space and academic facilities. Senator Harris had brought this appeal to the attention of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
