- Mrs. Bertha Medell is writing to Mr. Harris to seek advice on how to help her two daughters, Mary Sue and Martha Lau, enroll in college at Eastern State in Wilburton's, Oklahoma. She explains that they have no way to send them to college and mentions that her husband has been sick, making it difficult for them to farm. Mrs. Medell mentions that her daughters have good grades and expresses her desire to not see their potential wasted. She asks Mr. Harris for any advice or assistance he can provide, as her husband is of Chactaw descent and their grandmother has a roll number.
