- Mr. Phillip Martin, Chairman of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, sent a letter to Honorable Fred Harris of the U.S. Senate requesting support for direct funding to Indian Tribes for the Occupational Education Act. In response, Fred Harris expressed gratitude for the letter and telegram sent to the House Committee on Education and Labor, stating that he will consider the feelings of the Choctaw Tribe when it comes time to vote and will do what he believes is right to help the cause of the Indians.
