- Description:
- The United States Senate received a reply from the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding alleged discrimination against Indian children in Rapid City public schools. The Bureau arranged for the transfer of two school buses to assist with transportation for Indian students. The Senator forwarded the concerns to the Department of Health, Education and Welfare for further action. The Lakota Homes Community has been trying to get transportation services for their children, but the School District claims they do not qualify based on distance. The community is advocating for equal educational opportunities for their children.
