- The Eugene V. Debs Foundation is hosting its Ninth Eugene V. Debs award dinner on October 19, 1974, at Indiana State University. The awardee is Arthur Schlesing, Jr. and the presentation speaker is Michael Harrington. The foundation has invited Congresswoman Helen Gahagan Douglas to attend as a guest and sit at the speaker's table. The dinner falls just one day short of the 48th anniversary of Eugene V. Debs' death. The foundation hopes that Mrs. Douglas can attend.
