- Description:
- Former United States Representative Helen Gahagan Douglas was splattered with eggs at the Ford Hall Forum in Jordan Hall after giving a speech attacking Vice President Nixon. The eggs came from the right balcony, hitting several people near her. Despite the incident, Mrs. Douglas remained calm and continued to answer questions until the meeting was adjourned. The audience applauded her for five minutes as she left the stage. Mrs. Douglas criticized Nixon's presidential qualifications, stating that he was not intelligent enough for the office.
