- Description:
- The bill H.R. 2185, introduced by Mr. O'KONSKI in January 1971, declares that certain federally owned land in Wisconsin is held in trust for the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. The bill grants the Band ownership of the land, subject to existing rights-of-way and the continued use of a fire observation tower by the State of Wisconsin for fire protection purposes. The Indian Claims Commission is directed to determine how the value of the land conveyed by the bill should be set off against any claims against the United States.
