- Description:
- The Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes sent a resolution to the Secretary of the Interior and the Commissioner of Indian Affairs requesting that all principal officers be continued in office regardless of political affiliation, until tribal elections can be held. They also requested that the Secretary refrain from using Indian tribes for political purposes. The resolution was adopted on October 10, 1969 at a session held at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
