- Description:
- The Indian Claims Commission submitted its annual report for the fiscal year 1973 to the President of the United States Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The report highlighted the completion of 43 dockets, including multimillion-dollar judgments in favor of several tribes. Efforts were made to expedite the work, with a focus on reducing delays and encouraging settlements. The status of the work showed that 214 dockets had resulted in final money judgments totaling over $432,800,000, with 221 remaining to be adjudicated. The Commission entered 85 intermediate or final decisions affecting 233 dockets during the year. Various developments, such as increased funding and additional legal personnel, were noted as important to the Commission's work.
