- Description:
- Mrs. Nellie Willard wrote to Congressman Page Belcher asking for assistance in receiving her share of the settlement money owed to the Pawnee Indian Tribe. The Bureau of Indian Affairs had issued a Final Order stating that the tribe was entitled to a specific amount of money, but Congress had not yet appropriated the funds. The document from the Bureau of Indian Affairs explained the process of distributing settlement funds to tribes and mentioned that Mrs. Willard's family had a connection to the Pawnee Tribe. Congressman Belcher assured Mrs. Willard that he would carefully consider the matter when the appropriation came up for discussion in Congress.
