- Description:
- The Deputy Petroleum Administrator has stated that due to a steel shortage, the nation is facing a tight situation in natural gas supplies. To address this issue, a nationwide order may be issued to limit new space-heating customers and new large-volume customers unless approved by the Petroleum Administration for Defense. Exemptions and modifications will be made based on gas supply availability, and consultations will be held with industry representatives before any decision is made. The proposed order would not be retroactive and would not apply to manufactured gas service. The goal is to protect current customers and defense activities while addressing the inadequate transportation of natural gas. Ultimately, the hope is that sufficient steel will become available to resolve the issue.
