- Description:
- Mr. Phil Horner from Hillsdale, Oklahoma wrote a letter to Congressman Page Belcher regarding the hunting privileges at the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge. Horner expressed concern that only wealthy individuals were able to control hunting rights around the refuge, and suggested that the government acquire land for public hunting. Belcher forwarded Horner's letter to the Fish and Wildlife Service, who are considering the possibility of acquiring land for public hunting and working with the State Game Department to provide hunting opportunities for all citizens, rather than just the wealthy. Belcher assured Horner that he is looking into the matter and will provide more information once available.
