- Description:
- Larry Hackey visited the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding the Five Civilized Tribes Bill and the change from "elect" to "select" in the original bill. John Coffey advised Hackey to secure a unified effort from all parties concerned if he wanted to change the election procedure. Coffey arranged for Hackey to meet with Kirk Kickenberg from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Coffey sent Hackey a letter enclosing House Report No. 91-1499 and emphasized the importance of a strong and unified effort to restore the language "elected" in the bill.
