- Description:
- Assistant Secretary of the Interior Harrison Loesch has ordered the immediate replacement of the Superintendent and Principal of the Chilocco, Oklahoma, Indian school due to allegations of mistreatment of students. A BIA education team found that students had been handcuffed for long periods and subjected to physical punishment. The FBI has been requested to investigate possible criminal violations. Mr. Loesch is also planning to visit the school personally. The Superintendent and Principal have been reassigned temporarily while the investigation is ongoing.
