- Description:
- The document from the Bureau of Indian Affairs to Hon. Page Belcher addresses concerns about allegations of physical mistreatment at Chilocco Indian School. The investigations are ongoing, and the Superintendent and Principal have been temporarily reassigned. Contract negotiations for the operation of the school have been put on hold, and the Bureau is exploring the possibility of contracting with a private organization. The Bureau appreciates the support of the Council of American Indians and hopes to resolve the matter soon to strengthen the educational program at Chilocco Indian School.
