- Senator Dewey F. Bartlett hosted a reception and luncheon in honor of 11 Marine sergeants who were recognized as the top squad leaders for 1978. The event was attended by colleagues, Marines, and representatives from the Senate and House. Each sergeant received a certificate of commendation, and Senator Bartlett was thanked for his support of noncommissioned and petty officers in the U.S. armed forces.
