- Description:
- Senator J. Bennett Johnston is writing to Senator Dewey Bartlett to share his recommendations on the proposed Senate committee reorganization plan. He recommends that jurisdiction over the Land and Water Conservation Fund and Territorial Affairs should remain with the Interior Committee, and that seniority on a committee should be retained despite a name change. Johnston also suggests that each Senator should be allowed to serve on four subcommittees instead of two. He argues that consolidating subcommittees may not reduce workloads and could limit opportunities for junior Senators to take on leadership roles.
