- Description:
- The Department of Housing and Urban Development proposed new regulations under Title 24 of the Code of Federal Regulations regarding housing developed or operated by Indian Housing Authorities with assistance from HUD. Over 50 communications were received, resulting in changes to the regulations. The regulations include appendices, specify determinations made by HUD field offices, address the Turnkey III program, mention the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments program, provide for start-up funds for new IHAs, and require tribal ordinances to be amended. Changes were also made regarding the model ordinance, including provisions for due process safeguards and flexibility in appointments. Additionally, the prohibition on acquiring interests in projects by Commissioners and officials has been modified. Meetings to agree on development schedules and the determination of production methods have also been addressed in the regulations.
