- The Creek Housing Authority in Okmulgee is offering housing advice to local Indians on building and buying a home. The Tulsa Urban Indian Center is hosting a workshop for Native Americans with housing questions. The Cherokee Housing Authority has delayed foreclosure action on 200 Indian homes in the Cherokee Nation, with mortgage payments behind on many properties. Low-income families can obtain homes through a program where they deed land to the housing authority and work on construction. If debts are not paid, the homes and land will be deeded to the homeowner.
