- Part A of S. 1017 aims to distribute Federal funds for the education of Federally recognized Indian children in public schools in a fair manner. It proposes a formula that includes levying a fair tax rate on all taxable property in Indian-affected districts, providing state aid equal to that of comparable districts, and making up the difference with Federal funds.
