- Description:
- Senator Dewey F. Bartlett received a letter from Mr. Ralph Leland Dru requesting scholarship funding for medical school. Senator Bartlett forwarded the letter to Dr. Emery Johnson of the Indian Health Service for assistance. Dr. Johnson was able to provide funding for Mr. Dru to continue his education, and Mr. Dru was informed that he would be eligible for the Public Health Service Scholarship upon successful completion of his studies. Mr. Dru, a Cheyenne Indian, expressed his gratitude for the support and his desire to become an Indian physician.
