- Description:
- Legislative progress is being made in Washington for the construction of a new Indian Hospital in Claremore, but local support is needed for the project to succeed. $8 million has been allocated in the federal budget for the project, but competition for funds is intense. Plans for the new hospital include a 92,000-square foot facility to replace the current worn-out hospital that serves 35,000 Indians in Northeastern Oklahoma. Supporters are encouraged to make their feelings known to Representative Julia Butler Hansen, Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior and Related Agencies.
